Without a signature from an EV Code Signing Certificate, their code may be prevented from running and their users could receive a warning prompt.

December 2010 - EV Wildcard Certificate Alternative
In an attempt to expand the viability of Extended Validation SSL implementations on the web, DigiCert is now offering an EV alternative to our normal Wildcard certificates. There are many reasons why Wildcards are not allowable by EV standards, so we are allowing our customers to secure an entire domain (like a Wildcard would) using EV SSL packages for ultra-low costs and lower per-cert prices than our standard SSL certificates.
November 2010 - DigiCert Offers Sha2 SSL Certificates
As part of our commitment to providing the highest level of security to our customers, DigiCert now offers SHA-256 signed SSL certificates as a standard feature/upgrade for no extra cost on all our certificate products. SHA-2 offers greater security, while remaining incompatible with some older systems. We hope to have moved to a system in the near future where SHA-2 compatibility has grown to the point where it can be an automatic include, instead of an optional free upgrade.

Our Wildcard certificates allow users to secure any subdomain of the domain they were issued to through innovative use of the Subject Alternate Name certificate field extension.
