  • Database Front-end -- An interface that combines web functions with back-end database programs.  A product search page, or keyword search box, on an online storefront like Staples.com would be an example of a database front-end.
  • Data Warehouse -- A central storehouse for the entire amount, or at least most, of the data gathered by an enterprise from miscellaneous sources like point of sale (POS) systems, online transaction processing applications (OLTP), ERP systems and third-party market research data vendors.  Software that does "data mining" allows customers to selectively retrieve and arrange information from the data warehouse for examination.
  • Decryption -- The procedure of changing encrypted or ciphered data back into its previous type, reversing the process of encryption which provides Internet security and online security.  See also Encryption and Secure Sockets Layer.
  • DES (Data Encryption Standard) -- An encryption block cipher set up by the United States government; it uses symmetric encryption keys in order to cipher text for online and Internet security through encryption that provides such things as SSL encryption, 256 Bit encryption leading to Secure SSL certificates and 256 Bit SSL certificates.
  • Digital Cash -- A system that makes it possible for users to buy electronic "script currency" from a third-party, which is stocked up in an electronic wallet and can be traded online for products or services with other merchants, secure online.   Digital cash transactions can be as little as one-tenth of a cent. They can also be used in circumstances where someone prefers to not send credit card information over the Internet. Therefore it helps provide Internet security and online security while authentically securing personal information.
  • Digital Certificate – A digital certificate is an electronic identification which is distributed by a "trusted third-party" or certificate authority. Digital certificates can also be offered online to confirm a person’s identity. Besides the common digital certificates there are SSL digital certificates, secure SSL certificates, 256 Bit certificates which all add in secure authentication.
  • Digital Signature -- An electronic signature -- which cannot be forged because it is protected by encryption.  It authenticates the sender of the message and concurrently secures the integrity of the message, similar to how a digital certificate brings secure authentication with electronic ID.
  • Domain Name -- The URL or address of a specific website, such as google.com.
  • Download -- The procedure of taking software applications or any kind of data from a remote computer via the Internet or from any other type of network.
  • Dynamic Content -- Website or in a web page Content that often changes, customarily daily or even every instance a user reloads the page.
  • Dynamic Page -- A web page that is template-based and is filled by text that is context-sensitive and graphics that are taken from a database.
  • Dynamic SQL -- The method that generates database queries which are based on environment variables, user data and results from preceding queries. Increasing processing efficiency through executing numerous queries while sending them to many databases from a single browser request is another thing it can do.
