- FAQ – “Frequently asked questions" presented in a list with the answers. The FAQ list is included on the website of a company in order to make things easier when a customer is trying to locate commonly requested information. It lessens the need for customer telephone or e-mail contacts that are merely requests for basic information.
- Filtering -- The instantaneous investigation of a user request to establish which ad(s) should be displayed in the asked for page. If a web page request starts, for instance, from a certain referring site or if the guest is operating a specific browser, filtering software makes such a determination and gives instructions as to how the web server should act in response.
- Firewall -- Often installed in either a dedicated, stand-alone computer or in a router Software, a firewall is installed between the publicly-accessible and private areas of a network and is intended to secure the private network by keeping unauthorized users from gaining access. Firewall, similarly to encryption, digital certificates and secure SSL certificates, helps provide online security and Internet security.
- Form -- A web page section where the user can input information and broadcast the information to the web server. Frequently forms are used for gathering order information, requesting more information or defining user preferences for web page personalization.
- Frames -- A method permitting a website to demonstrate two or more web pages on the same screen at the same time. Frames are used most regularly to control the layout of the content on the screen, to combine content on the same screen from separate websites/web pages or to systematize functions into dispersed web pages.
- Freeware – Free software: software that, at no cost to the user, can be downloaded, used and redistributed freely.
