- Java -- A programming language that is object-oriented and was developed by Sun Microsystems. Java can be used to create applications that run free of the platform (e.g., Windows). Applets, small Java programs, are regularly used to provide active elements such as animations or scrolling headlines or interactive features in web pages.
- JavaScript -- A web page scripting language. JavaScripts can be implanted into web pages to generate attractive elements such as navigation buttons that either alter color or present a graphic somewhere else on the page when a mouse pointer passes over them. The creation of drop-down navigation menus and corroborating information in fields of an online form are other examples of the many uses JavaScript provides.
- JavaBeans -- An interface for the Java language that is an object-oriented programming. JavaBeans can be used to create re-usable program building blocks, components or "Beans" or applications. These can be integrated into web pages or arranged on any network independent of its operating system platform.
