- WAN -- The acronym WAN stands for Wide Area Network which meanings two or more Local Area Networks (LANs) that are connected with each other and are capable to trade data. The largest example of a WAN in the world is the Internet itself.
- Webcasting -- A method, which is also known as Netcasting, where audio content or multimedia matter is broadcasted to an audience via the Internet for utilization using applications of software such as the RealNetworks RealPlayer or Microsoft's Media Player.
- Web Designer -- A person in charge of many features of producing a site that are unrelated to technology. These include the look and feel of the website, the graphics, the site navigation schemes and the overall content development of the site.
- Web Developer -- A person who constructs the technically-oriented parts of a website, intranet, or extranet. They work on such things as server configuration, back-end integration to legacy or ERP systems, and database connectivity.
- Webmaster -- A general title that refers to the person in charge of creating and maintaining a website for a company or organization. But, with the complexity of websites increasing, the webmaster's role is also progressively being filled more and more by multiple workers with varying responsibilities.
- Web Page -- A text file written in HTML that can be presented in a browser. Pages on the web are made up of such things as: text, graphics, sound files, video, and/or Java applets and are either static pages or dynamic pages.
- Web Server -- A software application which gives out data in web page structure over IP (Internet Protocol) networks.
- Website -- An interconnected assembly of web pages that are static and/or a database and dynamic page templates that are related and are Internet accessible.
- Web TV -- An Internet device which provides cheap access to the Internet and facilitates the user's ability to view web pages on the screens of their televisions. Web TV also allow users to send e-mail.
- Workflow Marketplace -- A kind of Net Market which supplies online partnership and project tracking services for task that are multifaceted and involve several parties. Many workflow market places charge a fee for subscription in addition to a transaction fees for each time it is used.
