Benefits of an Extended Validation Certificate:
Encryption
In secure server terminology, Encryption is the activity of converting text into code, or "ciphertext", in order to block anyone but the intended recipient from reading that data. There are many kinds of data encryption, and they are the cornerstone of network security. Common types include Data Encryption Standard (see terms page "D") and public-key encryption. The Unix command crypt also performs encryption. It is now used primarily to validate credit card transactions with an SSL Cert.
Encryption/Decryption is even more important in ecommerce credit card transactions on the web. In order to send and accept credit cards online, encryption/decryption is a must. As the Internet becomes more sophisticated, the strength of encryption/decryption increases dramatically.
