Multi-Domain (SAN) Certificates: were developed specifically to deal with the needs of an Exchange 2007 SSL environment, and are by far the most popular choice for Exchange SSL.

Multi-Domain (SAN) Certificates allow multiple external domain names on one SSL Certificate. For help determining what names to include on your certificate, see our Multi-Domain SAN name help tool.

Wildcard SSL Certificates: can also be used for Exchange 2007 SSL. Wildcards should be used when all the names that you will use to connect to your Exchange server are subdomains of one primary domain (e.g., sub1.domain.com, sub2.domain.com, etc.).

Wildcards can be used across multiple servers at no extra cost, and frequently save our customers from needing to buy a certificate specifically for their Exchange 2007 server.

Some Exchange services will not work with Wildcard Certificates. Please check our page on Wildcards & Exchange 2007 for more information.
