TrustCore SDK End of Life and Support Policies

Overview

This End-of-Life (EoL) policy defines the support lifecycle for TrustCore SDK, including the transition from closed-source proprietary releases to open-source releases under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0).

DigiCert is committed to providing clear guidance on product support timelines to help customers plan their technology roadmaps and transitions effectively.

Product Lifecycle Phases

1. General Availability (GA)

a. Definition: The product is fully supported with regular updates, security patches, and technical support

b. Duration: EoL is typically 3 years from GA date, or 5 years for Long-Term Support (LTS) releases.

2. Extended Support

a. Definition: Critical security updates and limited technical support are provided for customers who have purchased an Extended Support plan.

b. Duration: 12 months following the EoL date.

3. Long-Term Support (LTS)

a. Definition: Designated major releases that receive security fixes and critical defect resolutions for an extended period (5 years from GA), with the last year dedicated exclusively to security patches and the first 4 years including security and non‑breaking API updates.

4.End-of-Life (EoL)

a. Definition: No further updates, patches, or technical support are provided.

b. Recommendation: Customers should migrate to supported versions or the open-source release.

Open-Source Release Support Model

  • Community-driven development and support
  • Security updates provided through community and DigiCert contributions

Migration Recommendations

For Current Closed-Source Users

Step 1: Review the TrustCore License Terms
Review the license and related notices for the TrustCore SDK in the GitHub repository to understand the permissions, conditions, and limitations that apply to your intended use:
https://github.com/digicert/trustcore?tab=License-1-ov-file

Step 2: Determine Fit for Your Use Case
Evaluate whether the TrustCore SDK licensing terms are compatible with your application’s deployment model, redistribution plans, and any proprietary components or data flows you intend to integrate.

Step 3: Contact Sales or Support Channels
If you determine that additional licensing or support is required, engage with the appropriate sales or support contacts listed in the product documentation or legal repository for guidance on available commercial offerings and terms. https://github.com/digicert/trustcore?tab=License-1-ov-file

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will my existing license continue to work after EoL?

A: Yes, your license remains valid. However, you will not receive updates or support after the EoL date. We recommend migrating to the latest supported release or a designated Long-Term Support (LTS) release. Customers who are unable to migrate immediately may purchase extended support for legacy versions for a limited time.

Q: What are the key differences between closed and open-source releases?

A: Feature parity is maintained. The primary difference is the license model (commercial vs. AGPL-3.0) and support model (commercial vs. community-driven).
