How do you Purchase a Code Signing Certificate?

Purchasing a code signing certificate is a simple process that can be completed online at DigiCert.com or from within your DigiCert CertCentral® account. If you haven’t purchased a certificate from DigiCert before or don’t have a DigiCert CertCentral account, first go to our DigiCert Order Form - Purchase Digital Certificates page and follow these instructions:

Step 1: Select a Product

Make sure Code Signing Certificate is selected and select the number of years (1, 2, or 3) for which you wish to purchase your code signing certificate. In the Platform section, select which platform you will be using your code-signing certificate with (e.g., Microsoft Office VBA) from the drop-down list. (Please note: If you select Sun Java as your platform type, you must submit a CSR for your order. You can do provide it now while ordering your certificate or later from your new DigiCert CertCentral account.) Click Continue at the bottom of the page.

Step 2: Organization Details

In the Organization Details section, enter your organization details for the certificate. In the Your Contact Details section, enter valid and verifiable contact information as a Certificate Requester. We may need to contact you to validate the order, as well as send you confirmation emails. (Note: As a security measure, we will need to contact your HR, IT, Corporate, or Legal department head in order to verify the information that you enter during this step.)

In the Technical Contact Details section, if you don't want to use your contact details as the technical contact detail, uncheck Use my contact details as the technical contact and enter valid contact information for the technical contact. Click Continue at the bottom of the page.

Step 3: Payment Details

Enter your payment information, read through and check I agree to the Certificate Services Agreement above*, and click Complete Order.

Step 4: Validation Process

When you complete the order, it will be sent to our validation department for verification. The validation process can be completed in under an hour or two. Although, there can be issues that extend the process beyond what is standard, especially if we have difficulty verifying your identity (Certificate Requester).

Step 5: Certificate Issuance

After the validation process is completed, DigiCert will send you (Certificate Requester) an email with certificate installation instructions.
