How does CableLabs use PKI to ensure trust?

CableLabs is an organization that works to improve broadband speed and operability. They also manage specifications (e.g., DOCSIS, PacketCableTM, CableHomeTM, and OpenCableTM) that require embedding digital certificates, or PKI certificates, in devices at the time of manufacture. These certificates provide the basis for a number of security services including data confidentiality, content integrity, and device authentication.
